March 15 – 18, 2023
Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch
St. Louis, MO
REMINDER – PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING AND MAKE HOTEL RESERVATIONS
Annual Meeting sessions will offer the opportunity for consideration and discussion of issues significant to the activities of theatre units and the well-being of administrators, faculty, and students. Some of the topics to be considered include theatre as a means to open dialogue, promoting and protecting the value of theatre study, enhancing and advancing student learning, developing and maintaining rapport with upper administrators, establishing community connections, enrollment trends and projections, and broadening awareness of student mental health issues.
Training sessions will be offered for individuals preparing for accreditation reviews, new and current visiting evaluators, and administrators contemplating new or planning to amend undergraduate curricular programs. Informational sessions will be offered regarding accreditation processes and procedures; annual reporting requirements; and federal issues. Continuing a comprehensive review of its standards, NAST will offer an open hearing specifically devoted to discussion pertaining to operational standards for both free-standing theatre institutions and proprietary institutions. Opportunities will be provided to exchange ideas and share thoughts during discussion groups. Attendees will also gather socially to enjoy fellowship and renew connections during scheduled meals and social functions.
In addition to the Annual Meeting, NAST will offer two full-day pre-meeting workshops for theatre administrators on Wednesday, March 25. The Pre-Meeting Workshop for New and Aspiring Theatre Administrators will be offered from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Pre-Meeting Workshop for Seasoned Theatre Administrators will be offered from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Attendees of the two workshops will come together for a joint box lunch to facilitate open discussion and promote mentoring opportunities, and again in fellowship during a reception scheduled from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
Registration conducted through electronic or hardcopy means for the Pre-Meeting Workshops and the Annual Meeting and Retreat for Administrators of Theatre Programs in Higher Education will close at 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, February 17. The basic registration fee through that date is $225. On-site registration in St. Louis will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at the NAST registration desk. On-site registrants will incur an additional charge of $25.
The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch is holding preferred reservations for NAST Annual Meeting attendees through Wednesday, February 22 at a group rate of $179 for single or double occupancy. Please be aware that if the NAST room block should fill by that date, group-rate rooms will most likely not be available. Prospective attendees whose plans are uncertain at this time are encouraged to make reservations well before the February 22 cut-off date, and then cancel later if plans change. (Please review the information found on the hotel’s website to confirm the time frame for cancelling reservations without penalty.)
In 2023, Annual Meeting materials will be available in both hardcopy packet and electronic app form. Individuals will have the opportunity to select their preference during the 2023 registration process. Please note: 2023 will be the final year the Association will provide meeting materials in hardcopy packet form.
