Lawrence (Larry) Larsen is Professor of Theater and Associate Academic Dean at the University of Portland, where he has taught Fine Art, Design and Theater Production for 30 years.
Associate Dean Larsen has designed shows professionally in Portland, Oregon for over 35 years. Recent scenic design work includes Arsenic and Old Lace for Lakewood Theatre Company, Emerald Odyssey for Portland Revels, and Snapshots for Broadway Rose Theatre Company. He has also designed for Oregon Children’s Theatre, Artists Repertory Theatre, Third Rail Repertory Theatre, Theatre Vertigo, Portland Actor’s Conservatory Portland Repertory Theatre, Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company, Northwest Children’s Theatre, Summer Repertory Theatre in Santa Rosa, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival/Portland, where he was the Design Associate for 6 seasons.
Associate Dean Larsen serves NAST as a visiting evaluator. He was a member of the Commission on Accreditation from 2015–2021.
Associate Dean Larsen holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Scenic and Lighting Design from the University of Washington.
