David Young is Head of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Western Kentucky University (WKU), where he has taught since 1998. Professor Young teaches acting, directing and career seminar classes, and directs regularly at WKU. Before teaching, he worked for 10 years as a professional actor and director in Chicago and the Midwest. He has been a member of Actors’ Equity Association since 1983, and continues to work professionally. He is also active in the area of youth theatre, collaborating with such organizations as Girls Inc., LifeSkills, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, VSA (previously named Very Special Arts), and The Center for Gifted Studies at WKU.
He was first elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2015.
Professor Young holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Emporia State University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Acting from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theatre from Wayne State University. __________________
