Joshua B. Williamson

Joshua B. Williamson is the Director of the School of Theatre and Dance at West Virginia University and a Professor of Lighting Design. He has served as Director since 2007, after heading the design and technology program for four years.

Professor Williamson is a journeyman member of IATSE Local 578 and an ETCP Entertainment Electrician. Recent lighting design credits include a COVID-friendly adaptation of A Christmas Carol for West Virginia Public Theatre and the pre-game light show for nationally televised WVU basketball games. He has designed for organizations including Arkansas Repertory Theatre, The Public Theatre in Lewiston, Maine, The Theatre at Monmouth, West Virginia Public Theatre, and the West Virginia Dance Company. Professor Williamson is a long-time member of the USITT Lighting Commission.

Professor Williamson served NAST previously as a member of the Committee on Nominations.

Professor Williamson holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Lighting Design from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ithaca College.
